Letters From Four Seasons

lettersfromfourLetters From Four Seasons
by Alistair Cooke
1978 / 60 pages
rating – 8

Very short little book about the seasons in different parts of the country (with a bit in England.)   Cooke starts with Spring in England and quickly moves to the Minnesota area. From there he looks at summer in New York City,  Fall in San Francisco and New England and back to New York city for the winter.

It’s really quite nicely written and calls forth a simpler time when we were, in spite of Cooke’s protests, more in tune with the seasons.   There’s quite a lot of  history involved in the narrative and I rather enjoyed that.

(I’ve had this book on the TBR shelf forever – time to clean the decks.)
